The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported that two states have recorded 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.
According to the figures released on its official website on Monday, the agency stated that two deaths were also recorded.
According to NCDC, the 12 new cases were recorded from Akwa Ibom, Ogun and Rivers. Akwa Ibom reported 6 new cases of infection, Ogun – 4 and Rivers – 2.
The health agency said that the 12 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 168,552.
So far, 164,439 COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged in the country, the agency said.
With the two deaths recorded, the death toll from the virus is now 2,124, NCDC said.
It said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
