Inter-professional rivalry is a bad phenomenon which could have drastic consequences if it roars its ugly head in a multi-dependent profession such as medicine. While delivering his address on the theme “Strategic Collaborative for Medicine Security, Affordability and National Self-Sufficiency” at the inauguration of the 5th Nigeria Pharma Manufacturers Expo in Lagos, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Adeleke Mamora described intra and inter-rivalry as part of the bane of the health sector. He thus, urged all healthcare practitioners to work together in unity of purpose following the 5Cs of Cooperation, Collaboration, Coordination, Consultation, and Cordiality which must take place in the atmosphere of mutual respect.
Mamora also assured the professionals of the Healthcare provisional fund which has been set aside to fund basic Healthcare needs. “Irrespective of setbacks we have encountered, the Nigeria government is poised to enhance local manufacturing through a multi-sectorial approach. We must start focusing on homegrown solutions. PMG-MAN has to play an important role in the delivery of drugs to primary healthcare centers.”
