Pharm. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai, FPSN, the Immediate Past President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and Honorary Consul-General of Pakistan in Nigeria, is a man who is the true definition of a leader per excellence. He is one of the result-oriented leaders Nigeria has produced in recent times.
He was born in Yakasai Quarters, Municipal, Kano State on the 1st of December 1960. He attended Shahuchi Primary School from 1968 to 1974, proceeded to Government Secondary School, Gwarzo from 1974 to 1979 and got admitted into School of Basic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University from 1979 to 1980.
After his first degree in Pharmacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1983), he proceeded to get so many Postgraduate courses including International Marketing from University of Salford, Manchester, UK.
Pharm. Yakasai has been an achiever from a tender age. He became Director Nigerian Institute of Substance Abuse (NISA) at 26, Chairman, Nigerian Association of General Practice Pharmacists, Kano/Jigawa chapter by 29, Chairman of Pharmaceutical society of Nigeria, Kano/Jigawa at 31, the Managing Director of Pharmaplus Nigeria Limited at 32, the Chairman of Yakasai Zumunta Development Association Kano (Health Committee) at 35, Chairman Northern League of NGOs at 37. Besides, he became 1st Deputy President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria at 37. All these and other personal and professional achievements were recorded by him before the age of 40.
Founder and Chairman of Safe Medicines Foundation, Ahmed is a Board Member/Trustee, Society for Family Health (SFH), 2004- to date and Board member of Nigerian Association of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (NAPPSA), a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Fellow of Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy, Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Management among others.
Pharm. Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai is the author of Pharmacists and Society and Pharmaceutical Directory, Kano/Jigawa. He was a part-time lecturer, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria under the Pharmacists’ Council of Nigeria’s Mandatory Continue Education.
As an independent consultant, he registered so many pharmaceutical, veterinary, medical devices and food products with NAFDAC, he conducted so many researches on PATH 2 (AXIOS) and Howard-GHAIN project and played a major role in improved operation of NAFDAC in general, and in the North-West in particular as NAFDAC Consultant.
Yakasai is an accomplished Pharmacist/independent Consultant with comprehensive background in Pharmaceutical fields and Public-Private Partnerships. He is a man with a big heart, who values the senior citizens, believes in the younger generation and he is an inspiration to a myriad of young Nigerians both within the country and outside our shores.
